Tai Chi: Mobility for Life

Tai Chi is a wonderful mind-body exercise. Mind-body exercises combine body movement with mental focus and slow breathing. This combination supports relaxation and improves health and fitness. Clinical studies have shown that the slow, circular, and flowing movements enhance muscular strength, flexibility, and stamina while improving balance and posture.

 

In this beginner’s level class, you will practice the elements of a 14 move Yang style Tai Chi form. Come join us for this interesting and unique form of exercise that can be practiced throughout life. This is a very gentle exercise for all skill levels and no previous experience required.

 

Facilitated by Lisa Langlois, PhD, DMs, Reiki Master, and Meditation Teacher Certified as a Meditation Teacher by Natura Institute, Dr. Lisa has extensive practice and understanding of different meditation practices.

Currently Reading: Disillusioned: Five Families and the Unraveling of America's Suburbs

 

Join a circle that is focused on looking at old problems with new eyes and open hearts. Through shared leadership, this book study group deepens awareness and awakens interest in ways to co-create a healthier, more compassionate and equitable world.

 

In Disillusioned, our discussion will take us on a journey across this nation to gain an understanding of how suburbs have undermined upward mobility, particularly for Black and Brown families. Focusing on the experiences of five American families within suburban settings, we will uncover layers of history, and join the dialogue on how we can collectively pave the way for a more inclusive and hopeful future.

The Summer Quarter is all about manifesting your dreams and receiving the abundance of life. 

 

Some things we will focus on this Summer quarter:

  • Do you have dreams you're ready to bring into manifestation?
  • Are you a big giver but don’t seem to receive in equal measure?
  • Are there important things in your life that feel scare?
  • Is it difficult to let other people help you?
  • Are you ready for life to be easier?
  • Do you settle for “just okay” instead of going for what you truly want?
  • Are you ready to experience the sweetness of life? 

Sessions include information and exercises for applying spiritual principles to everyday life and an interactive opportunity to ask questions and receive personal input. Join any time. Drop in or attend regularly.

 

Facilitated by Lynn Woodland, creator of the Miracles Course, is an international teacher and human potential expert whose particular expertise is in what gives rise to miracles and in teaching ordinary people to live extraordinary lives so that miracles become, not just possible, but natural.

Our new book selection, The Cosmic Dance: An Invitation to Experience Our Oneness by Joyce Rupp, is a union of poetry, prose and artwork by Mary Southard. Rupp makes it easy for us to experience our unity with each other and all of life. She challenges us to hear the pain of the planet and to care for Mother Nature and her inhabitants. Rupp calls us to live compassionately with each person and particle of creation. 

 

Through weekly discussions, we will reclaim and strengthen our capacity to face planetary crises and respond with unexpected resilience and creative power.

It will be offered as a guided meditation along with a period of silence.  There will be time for discussion after the meditation.

Journey to Joy: A Yoga & Ritual Breathwork Workshop

Learn mindfulness and embodiment practices that you can incorporate into your daily life to cultivate peace and equanimity, rather than being trapped in stress and anxiety.

 

We'll start with a gentle yoga session to warm up the body, accessible to everyone, whether you prefer to practice in a chair or on a mat. Then, experience a powerful ritual breathwork journey. This session will include prayer, sound healing, and Ritual Breathwork, a rapid and controlled breathing technique inspired by Holotropic Breathing developed by Stan Grof, culminating in deep relaxation.

 

Embrace your full potential to access joy, creativity, and inner strength by deepening your connection with your body, mind, and spirit. Letting go of stress through these practices not only brings calm and balance but also helps you experience more joy and have more fun in your daily life.

Digging in Deeper: Re-Wilding Series

If you joined us for our first rewilding talk, this next one will dig into (pun intended) alternatives to non-native plants. View photo examples of natives incorporated into a variety of landscapes. We will introduce many native plants you may or may not be familiar with. Learn the benefits of carefully introducing native plants into your yard to support a healthy ecosystem! 

 

The Louisiana Wild Society will share how they are working to protect and regenerate our shared space through the use of plants that nourish our complex living systems and community while we celebrate a deeper relationship with the natural world.

 

Facilitated by Nikki Krieg, who holds a Bachelor of Science specializing in Wildlife Ecology and Horticulture and is a Louisiana Prescribed Burner. She's worked with the Forest Service in the western Rockies, Clegg's Nursery, and joined the Sweet Fern team in 2021. Nikki is a member of the Louisiana Wild Society, a local nonprofit that creates conversation and takes part in beautification projects that create rich habitats that provide for all living creatures now, and in the future.

Sage Saturday: An Interactive Horoscope Experience

Are you curious about astrological energies and how best to navigate them?
Join us to discuss the horoscope for the approaching month and become more aware of the subtle influences of new moons, full moons, planetary retrogrades and other significant alignments. Instead of simply reading a horoscope, enjoy the opportunity to talk to an actual astrologer and have an interactive horoscope experience. Gain an understanding of how astrologic energy will impact life experience and how to best utilize this energy. Each month we will reflect on the past month and open a portal to the month ahead. Participants will be provided a calendar with the dates of significant astrological alignments and prompts to take home.

Women's New Moon Circle

Come together in ritual to create a sacred space of support and creativity. We will journey in mutual support to tap into the fertile field the New Moon provides. A New Moon marks the beginning of a new phase, a fresh start in Her cycle of waxing and waning. During this time the Moon is empty and receptive; she offers the womb of potential. An optimum time to plant seeds of intentions for what we wish to manifest in our lives.

 

We will create an altar for our ceremony, consider bringing something to place on our altar. Please bring a small vessel that has meaning to your for the water ritual.

 

Facilitated by Cindi DiMarco. Cindi is a self-professed student of life. She is a singer-songwriter, Reiki Master Teacher, and Shamanic practitioner. Deeply rooted in Nature, Cindi is happiest when she is outside.
